Forum

The Forum “WHO Netz” later known as  “Arty5” was most popular during the times when internet crashes were common. When the connection to the outer world had broken down, students in their dorms could still access the Forum to chat and wait for news about the connection.

Since many inhabitants regularly visited the Forum it became a natural place to keep all sorts of content like the protocols of Dorfrat meetings, user guides etc.

Since then we and ZDV have been successfully made the internet connection far more stable and Forum user numbers have dwindled. For the sake of good old times, and the content that is still on there the old Forum can still be accessed (from a dormitory network only)

Arty5

Arty5 is the official Name of the Tübingen Dormitory Network and the official Forum of the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim A.d.ö.R. The Forum is accessible to all Dormitories of the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim that are connected via a dedicated line.

The name Arty5 originates in Article 5 of the Grundgesetz (German constitutional law) which is highly significant for both studying and using the internet:

Article 5
Freedom of expression, arts and sciences
(1) Every person shall have the right freely to express and disseminate his opinions in speech, writing and pictures, and
to inform himself without hindrance from generally accessible sources. Freedom of the press and freedom of reporting by means of broadcasts and films shall be guaranteed.
There shall be no censorship.
(2) These rights shall find their limits in the provisions of general laws, in provisions for the protection of young persons, and in the right to personal honour.
(3) Arts and sciences, research and teaching shall be free. The freedom of teaching shall not release any person from allegiance to the constitution.
