Join our dedicated working group and help shape the future of our network!

The Netz-AK of the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim is looking for new members to work together on exciting changes in our dormitory network. We have some big challenges ahead, and as a member of Netz-AK, you can bring your own ideas or actively participate in the following projects:

  • Implementing IPv6: Prepare our network for the future.
  • Restructuring the Subnets: Optimize the network architecture.
  • Choosing New Switches (e.g., Mikrotik): Make important decisions about hardware.
  • Firewall Hardening: Increase the security of our network.
  • Providing Wi-Fi in the Kitchens: Help decide which technology to use and set up different test scenarios.
  • Introducing Eduroam in public areas around the dorms: Make internet access more convenient.
  • Social Media Presence: Manage and update our social media channels to share our activities and keep the community informed.
  • Maintaining the Website: Update and expand the existing website, which serves as the central source of information for all network matters.
  • Improving User Guides: Create and improve documentation and guides to make using and accessing the network easier.
  • Support Ticket System: Implement and maintain a ticket system to handle support requests efficiently.
  • Network Monitoring: Use monitoring tools to keep an eye on network performance and respond to issues early.
  • Data Protection: Develop strategies to improve and ensure data protection within our network.
  • Network Neutrality: Ensure that our network remains fair and open to all users without discrimination.
  • Hosting and Backup for Village Council Data: Help securely store and back up the Village Council’s data.
  • Backup for Our Data: Create and implement a strong backup system to prevent the loss of important network data.
  • Public Relations: Develop strategies to make the Network Working Group’s activities more known to the public and attract new members.
  • Workshops on Network Infrastructure: Organize and lead workshops to teach other students the basics and details of our network infrastructure.
  • Nerdy Research on Computer Networks: Conduct your own exciting research projects on computer networks and share the results with the community.
